I've recently moved to Sydney, and to my surprise on the first weekend, there was a Spiritual Awareness Fair in the area that I stay. Of course I had to go check it out, especially as I'd need more 'stuff' for my new meditation direction. I was excited to see how different it would be from the Auckland event, and expected it to be bigger. I was surprised to find as much stalls at the North Shore event as what you'd expect in Auckland, maybe a few more. it did seem bigger as the stalls were arranged on two different levels, and some of the stalls were very close to one another.
A big difference would have been all the chairs available in Auckland to listen to the guest speaker at the moment, and normally you'd have 2 sessions scheduled at the same time. In North Shore, I found only one row of seats if you wanted to listen, and with all the buzzing of the stalls right behind it. I found it a little disheartening for the speakers as they had to constantly try and talk above the noise, but it seem to work out fine. The interest was much more on the stalls, so the seating was ample.
As I entered the fair, I was handed a little gift, Pure Vitality skin cream from Jambucina. A natural product without chemicals. As I entered to top floor, they yoga club had people doing a gentle excursive yoga on the spot. At first I joined in, and it make me thing of dancing yoga, but then I got curious to look at what is to offer. The top section seemed to be filled with people, moving slowly through the stalls or doing yoga on the spot, so I decided to check out the bottom section first.
That is where I found Duft Creations www.duftcreations.com.au. Barbara has a unique offering, where she uses art to make all sorts of cute things out of crystals, like sun catchers, Retro gem trees, and Fairy gardens for the young ones. If you search for Duft Creations on Facebook, you'll find her online store there for more information. For myself, I bought a lovely Retro Gemtree for the office: "As above, so below" it says. I also got an Agate Suncatcher and a smoky quartz donut.
It became time to go upstairs and listen to the first speaker, so I left the rest of the stalls for later. I started walking through the stalls to go and listen, but he didn't really caught my attention. What did caught my attention was a table with Tibetan goodies. I asked the lady what it was and she said it was a Tibetan prayer wheel. There are prayers written down, placed inside the wheel, and each revolution creates a 100 prayers. So it is a way to increase the power of prayer by the 100. Interesting theory, but once I picked it up, I couldn't stop spinning it. It is rather addictive, and such a good energy.
And that is when I saw it: a clear quartz merkaba. I asked her what it was and she confirm it was one. I was so excited. There were a few to choose from, but the clear quartz got my attention and I went with my intuition. I'm getting all these tools for my next mediation.
I moved on to the next stall, and found a bed. I first thought it was reiki or some or other massage, but it is called the John of God Chrystal light bed. Apparently it balances your chakras.
Although I'll probably won't pursue it, I look like min freedman's quote: "To heal is to unlock the innate wisdom of our physical bodies and to realign our self with Spirit".
Next up was a Psychic that wanted to sign me up, but I just don't need that anymore. Funny conversation, she started to tell me about the rose quartz around my neck and how it will attract loving people into my life. That is a good thing, I'd say.
Then I met the most amazing young man. He was selling singing bowls and I've been looking for one. His name is Anup Poudyal from Singbowl http://www.singbowl.com.au. The moment he saw me, he instructed me to put down my bags, hold out my hand flat, placed a bowl in my hand, tapped it and started circling around the edge. It sang immediately and had a beautiful sound. He demonstrated to me and others what happens when he makes the bowl sing with water inside it. The water started vibrating and jumping out of the bowl, it was so cool. We are 70% water, so just think how it helps us spark things up again inside.
So the next 10-15 minutes was spent looking for the right bowl. He showed me how they all sing at different frequencies, he even had an iphone app to show the decibels. Each bowl resinates with a chakra and I told him instinctively I was looking for a solar plexus one. I almost immediately interrupted myself and said, no a heart one. But somehow the solar plexus is the one that resinated with me the most, and sang most beautifully. He had the most beautiful bowls, a large crystal bowl (that looked appropriate for salad), he made it sing and it sounded like a space ship. He let me make it sing and it was the most awesome feeling in the world, so powerful. I asked him if this is all he does for a living, and he said very passionately yes, he tours all over to teach people about the singing bowls. He invited me to his next workshop, where people all over come together and play their music all at the same time. I graciously accepted. A beautiful soul.
I found my way back downstairs, but before I did I grabbed a Tai Chi flyer from www.taichisociety.com for some courses. Of course I have time for Thai Chi as well, I decided I needed something different to Yoga. Maybe this will be it. I'll check it out once I'm settled. As I made my way down, the last stall had soaps, and I was looking to see what it was, when a man came over and started telling me all about the soaps, doing a real sales pitch on behalf of his partner who was busy talking to other people. It was so funny, as I was standing there listening, or not listening, nodding, and waiting for a moment when it would be polite to say thank you but not today. He kept talking.
I became aware of the next speaker starting to speak, and and turn around, and this lady, late 30s I guess started talking about mediation. I quickly interrupted the salesman and said I'm sorry, but I really want to listen to this lady. He smiled and I rushed to the seats to listen. She had an audience of three. That included me. It amazed me how little interest there was in the speakers.
Anyway, I couldn't stop smiling at this woman, and she kept smiling back at me as she spoke.
Did we have a connection? She was smiling so much and on occasion started to giggle, so I thought I'd stop smiling and just look friendly. She made such a lot of sense, and I could tell she prepared well for what she wanted to say. She explained about how people do meditation their own way, but once they are ready to take the next step, there are medication courses that they offer that you can attend. After the session, the other ladies who were listening went up to find out more about it, so I decided to do my last trip downstairs before speaking to her.
Back downstairs ready to take my time, I was surprised that there wasn't much that caught my attention. I did walk past some second hand books, and lo and behold, there was Seat of the Soul. So if I wasn't reading it yet, the universe sent it to me again. I'm one third through it again, so a good reminder to finish it.
Next up was an artist called Nicolle Poll www.artworkbynicollepoll.com. She specialises in Oracle Card Illustrations. She also does some art classes and workshops.
Of course I had to stop with the crystals again, and saw the black crystal I was looking for to ward off negativity. I first looked at Black Tourmaline. The woman asked me if I'm an empath, and I ummmed and ahhed. What does she mean an empath? She said 'are you a sensitive, do you feel other's emotions or energies?' Well, I didn't know there was a name for that. So Black Tourmaline helps to not feel others negativity so badly, especially in doom and gloom situations. I bought one of course to wear around my neck. She said to wear it quite low where the heart is.
She asked me if I was a lightworker of some sorts, and I didn't really what to say. I said, well I meditate alone, so she said, 'yes that's okay, we all started off that way'. She told me about her Rock Crystal Shop https://www.facebook.com/TheRockCrystalShop , which I've seen on my way to the fair (it looks similar to Avalon) and said they have weekly catch ups if I wanted to join.
I then saw the stone I was actually looking or, Black Obsidian. That helps you face your shadow side and teaches you to integrate and ground it. So I took both, as you do. My wallet was getting slim and I knew I had to get out of there, but last stop, meditation stall.
And there she was, the speaker of before. She almost looked happy to see me and started to softly giggle again. Maybe she can see my aura or something. I could hardly hear her as her stall was next to the stage and the next speaker has started again. She asked me my name and I gave it to her. Her hand was soft and gentle, but I pretended not to notice. Her name is Liz. She asked me to write down my details so we could stay in touch, but I'm sure she just meant for the newsletter. She is from the Clairvision school of mediation at https://www.facebook.com/clairvisionaus I asked her how I can find out about the workshops, and she gave me a flyer. I said that the weekly meditation is a little out of my way, but I'll be interested in the May weekend workshop. She just giggled and said yes, that woud be nice. I saw there was a DVD and she told me all about it. It tells you step by step how to do the Third Eye meditation, so I bought it. The second meditation she spoke about was 'inner space'. It sounded very interesting. My wallet was telling me to run. I did.
